I started Savillum to share my experiences growing and making my own food.
I’m “Farmer Sally Ann,” according to my neighbors (my name is not Sally Ann haha). I have lived in big cities for a few decades, and now I’m learning how to thrive in a small town in Northern California with a plot of land and some seeds. I love to grow, harvest, and make my own food. Here, I share what I’m learning so that if you’re new to this too, we can learn together!
“Savillum” is the name of an ancient Roman cheesecake, the recipe for which I discovered in an old publication. It uses a bay leaf, a hint of greenery. I enjoyed making that cheesecake years ago, when I started to expand my knowledge of baking, cooking, and growing my own food. I had a small garden on my apartment patio in Massachusetts, and that was the first time I grew my own vegetables and ate them.
“However many years she lived, Mary always felt that ‘she should never forget that first morning when her garden began to grow’.”
